PressLiaisonThe Press Liaison reports to the MarketingHead. The Press Liaison must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be a "people person". This position requires approximately 5 hours per month from September through November, 3 hours per week in December and January, and perhaps as much as 10 hours at the convention (although it is expected to take about 5). S/He is responsible for all communications with the media (newspapers, television, radio). This person will communicate with the press prior to, during, and after the convention to ensure that it is well covered. Prior to the convention, they will create press releases, and a welcome package which will include potential story ideas, a press ribbon, contact information and a background on Arisia in general, to be handed out to attending members of the media. The P.L. will arrange interviews between the press and the Conchair and possibly the Guests of Honor in September for publication in magazines or on cable access. During the convention, the P.L. will escort the members of the media to various panels/programming in which they have shown an interest. They will communicate with Operations and Info Desk and make sure that all concerned know how to reach them and where the press kits are. They will be assigned a radio during the convention. After the convention, the P.L. will follow-up with the members of the media who attended the convention and request copies of any articles written as well as permission to put them on our website. Thank you letters will be generated and sent to all media members that attended as well. |
